143 players made it to the second day of the WPT’s Grand Prix de Paris, after two days of action, during which they were allowed to re-buy once. Obviously, several of those who busted on Day 1A seized the re-buy opportunity on Day 1B. The bottom line is that the 143-player field which showed up at the Aviation Club de France on Day 2 was a pretty star-studded one indeed. Four levels of action went into the day, at the end of which 63 players were left standing.
The one who managed to finish sitting behind the largest stack was Philipp Gruissem, who had 280.6k chips bagged.
During the early going, Gruissem was nowhere to be seen among the top ranks. As the day progressed though, he took down several significant pots.
Petter Jetten was seated at the same table with Gruissem, and indeed, the latter seemed to be quite a thorn in his side for a while. At one point though, Jetten did manage to lift a major pot off his opponent, so he eventually finished the day among the large-stacks, with 156.6k chips to his name.
Another player who managed to build a massive stack was Bryan Colin, who finished second, behind 243.3k chips. Matt Salsberg ended up in 3rd place, followed by Juha Helppi in 4th.
Antony Lellouche was one of the local players, so he obviously had many eyes on him through the day. He finished with a stack of 184.5k chips, after he took down a massive pot from Scott Seiver.
Michael Mizrachi also garnered plenty of attention, but this time, he failed to live up to the hype: he was eliminated on Day 2 of the
poker tournament, by Antonio Subtil.
The list of ‘name’ players who bit the dust on day 2 was long: Jonathan Duhamel was among those eliminated, together with Nicolas Levi, Davidi Kitai, Casey Kastle and Steve O’Dwyer.
The winner of the event will take home a €400k prize.
