WPT Grand Prix De Paris – Day 4 report

25 players returned to the tables of the Aviation Club De France on Day 4 of the WPT’s Grand Prix De Paris event. The goal was to play down to the final table and that’s exactly what the players have achieved.
8 players were left in contention by the day’s end, each and every one of them guaranteed a minimum of €70k.
With the €633,902 top prize looming on the horizon though, it was Theo Jorgensen who really managed to kick things into gear. He had it going pretty well all through the day, but he truly only swung into action on the final table bubble. It took 6 hours for the 25 players to whittle down to 9 and Jorgensen seemed like he’d had enough excitement for the day. He moved in for the kill to burst the bubble and to put an end to the day by eliminating Ilan Boujenah. Jorgensen shoved all-in on pocket Js against Boujenah’s Ah, 9h. No bail-out would come for Boujenah on the board, and thus his
poker tournament run came to an end. The win gave Jorgensen a massive stack of 2.7 million chips, setting him up for a potentially great final table run.
Despite the fact that it would take them so long to work down to the final table bubble, players wasted no time in the early going. Short stacks were compelled to make a move and so they did, mostly with rather dire consequences for them. Arnaud Mattern was among the large stacks at the beginning of the day and he further improved his final table chances by busting Bruno Lopes’ bluff. Lopes was the one who shoved all-in on a board of 8h,8d,9d,3d. After thinking about it for a while, Mattern made the call holding K,K against Lopes’ A,Jo. The river changed nothing and Mattern waltzed on to Day 5 while Lopes headed to the payout booth.
Anthony Lellouche also fell by the side, together with
PartyPoker’s Andrew Teng. Patrick Bruel and Quinn Sivage joined them on the sidelines.
Fabrice Tuil, one of the first day’s chip leaders finished second to Jorgensen with a stack of 1,183,000 chips. Nourredine Aitaleb finished third with 810k chips. Mattern eventually ended the day with 678k.
