WPT Jacksonville – Day 2 Report

The second day of the WPT’s Jacksonville Fall Poker Scramble saw 123 players return to the tables with the immediate goal of playing past the money bubble and down as close to the final table as possible. The one who finished the day with the largest stack was Cong Pham, who had 892k chips bagged. Pham was followed by Andrew Whitaker and Billy Swaringen on the Day 2 leader board.
Pham, who had finished the first Day 1 flight with the largest stack too, was extremely active on Day 2 and as a result of that he took down several noteworthy pots. One of these pots came from George Lampert and took about 10 minutes to land on Pham’s side of the table. The two of them dragged it out into the dinner break and they were still locked in a battle of wills when the other players left for dinner. Eventually though, the chips were picked up by Pham, whose stack swelled past the 500k chip mark for the first time with them.

Another notable who made it through day 2 on a healthy stack was Stephen Bokor. Bokor had 570k chips bagged, enough for 7th place. Ryan Eriquezzo made the top 10 as well: his 567k chips were enough for 8th place. Jared Jaffee finished within the top 10 too. Jeff Madsen and Matt Glantz were among the survivors too, albeit on smaller stacks than the above mentioned players.
With the top 45 places paid, the first objective of the day was the reaching and then the bursting of the money bubble. The unluckiest player of the poker tournament turned out to be Fletcher McKinney, who was bounced by Matthew Oswalt on a Q,Q vs K,K match-up.
Byron Kaverman was the first player to bust within the money: his 45th place was worth $6.3k. Micah Rashkin was eliminated in the money too.
