WPT Jacksonville – Day 3 Report
Posted by: James Carter. - Wed, 2013-11-20 04:55
The third day of the WPT’s Jacksonville Main Event saw 26 players return to the action, each and every one of them guaranteed an $8.36k share of the prize-pool. The main objective of the day was the reaching of the final table, and at the end of the day’s hostilities, 6 players could declare that mission fulfilled. The player who finished the penultimate day with the largest stack, was Jared Jaffe. One of the high-profile pros playing in the event, Jaffe is definitely not a newcomer to the scene. In fact, he has amassed around $1.1 million in live tournament profit thus far, together with around $811.7k in online tournament winnings.
Another relatively well-known player who made the final 6 was Corrie Wunstel, who finished 65th in this year’s
WSOP Main Event, picking up $102.1k for his efforts. Wunstel will begin the home dash of the
poker tournament 4th in chips, with 1.49 million. The leader, Jaffe, has a stack of 3.65 million at his disposal.
Most of the notables still standing at the beginning of the day were bounced on Day 3. Ryan Eriquezzo fell, together with Stephen Bokor and Matt Glantz. Jeff Madsen and Jacob Bazeley were among those sent packing too.
Bokor’s demise came when he got all his chips into the middle on an Ac, 10c against Blake Purvis’ pocket 4s on a classic coin-flip. He got straight and flush draws on the flop, but nothing filled up for him as two 7s landed on the turn and the river. Bokor was bounced in 24th place.
Cong Pham, one of the previous chip leaders, was sent packing in 21st place. He was followed to the rail by Tom Sheets and Bill Swaringen. Bazeley was bounced in 18th, by Matthew Oswalt, when the latter made a straight against his top pair.
