WPT Legends of Poker – Day 1C Report

The third Day 1 flight of the WPT’s Legends of Poker drew a starting field of 328 players. Being the last of the three day 1 flights, Day 1C made the numbers-game clear: a total of 669 players bought into the event. The prize-pool information is still not 100% though. Of the 328 Day 1C starters, 135 managed to have their tickets punched for day 2. The player whose stack was the largest at the end of the day was Fabrice Touil, who had 272.4k chips bagged.
Ryan Goindoo finished second, with 269k chips to his name.
David Tuchman and David Daneshgar put in solid efforts as well. Steven Kelly finished the day in 5th place, and Scotty Nguyen made the top 10 too.
Dan Heimiller was among the survivors too, together with David Sands, Dan O’Brien, Andy Frankenberger and Brent Hanks.
Ryen Riess, one of the current November Niners, had a good run too, but only on his 3rd buy-in. Eventually, he finished with a solid stack, after he managed to take down a massive 3-way pot during the 8th level of the
poker tournament.
He had pocket Ks against his opponents’ random starting hands.
Dan O’Brien finished well-stacked too, after he locked horns with Ray Quartomy during the penultimate level of the day and managed to double up at his expense. The hit did cripple Quartomy, and he ended up biting the dust later in the day. He was joined on the sidelines by Eric Baldwin, Matt Waxman and Josh Hale. Other notables who failed to advance to Day 2 were Jeff Gross and Tim West.
Hale got the last of his chips into the middle during the last level of the day, holding pocket Qs against an opponent’s A,J. His opponent ended up making Js full of Aces to send him packing.
