WPT Legends of Poker – Day 3 Report

The third day of the WPT’s Legends of Poker event saw the field thin down to the final 15 players. The one who finished the day with a massive chip lead was Patrick Karschamroon, who had 4.1 million chips bagged. At this point, to say that Karschamroon has a more than comfortable lead over second place man John Gordon would probably be an understatement. Gordon only had 2.19 million chips at the end of the Day 3 hostilities.
Dan Heimiller finished the day 3rd in chips, with 2.15 million. Phil Laak had a good day 3 run as well: he finished 6th with 1.34 million chips.

71 players returned to the tables of the poker tournament at the beginning of the day, safe in the knowledge that they were all in the money. Phil Laak was third in chips then, and he obviously managed to use his large stack well to ensure his Day 4 presence at the green felt. He didn’t really try a whole lot and mostly played it safe, but despite that, he still managed to score an elimination, sending Lloyd Mandel to the rail in 42nd place.
Up until the midway mark of the day, it was anybody’s race, but then Karschamroon emerged. He bounced Darlene Lee and Henrik Antanesian in the same hand to score a massive boost to his stack. That pot propelled him right over the 2 million chip mark.
The chips went into the middle preflop in the said hand, as Antanesian had a 8h,9h against Lee’s pocket Js and Karschamroon’s pocket Ks. Karschamroon made a set of Ks on the flop and the rest is history. The next big boost that Karschamroon had came courtesy of a massive pot he took down from Dan Heimiller. That hand got him firmly over the 3 million chip mark.
