Having taken place in the renowned Bicycle Casino in California, the WPT's Legends of Poker Main Event played down to a winner the other day. The one who ended up besting the field of 786 entrants and pocketing the top prize of $675.9k, was Mike Shariati. The
poker tournament, which featured a buy-in of $3.7k saw a massive starting field take to its tables. Needless to say, there were a high number of name competitors in the starting field, many of them making it to the late stages of the event. Freddy Deeb was one of these players: he was looking to score his third WPT Legends of Poker title, a feat which would've put him in the same league with Carlos Mortensen, Anthony Zinno and Gus Hansen, the only three players to have won the said event 3 times thus far.

To say that Deeb came close to his above said objectives would probably be a massive understatement: he made it all the way to the heads-up stage of the action, where he put up an epic fight lasting 117 hands, but was eventually forced to admit defeat and to settle for a $383k prize.
Shariati is no newcomer to the live poker tables either: prior to this win of his, he had some $279.4k amassed in tournament profits.
Brent Roberts was the one who made it to 3rd place. His reward was $251k. Other notables to finish deep were Michael Wang, whose 7th place was worth $70.6k, and Alex Masek, who made it to 12th place for a $26.1k reward.
Griffin Paul finished deep too: he ended up in 13th place for almost $21k.
