WPT Marrakech – Sebastian Homann wins

The final day of the World Poker Tour's Marrakech Main Event saw nine players return to the tables of the Casino de Marrakech, with Sebastian Homann holding the chip lead. The young German took full advantage of his position and he never really even allowed his opponents to seriously weigh a title run of their own. In the end, Homann bested an initial starting field of 221 players. He took down a €244,508 top prize, plus a WPT championship seat worth $25,000.

Nine players returned to action on the final day of the poker tournament, which meant that the official final table hadn't even been set yet. One more player needed to go in order to make things official and that player was Patrick Muleta, whose A,Jo fell to Felix Oberauer’s A,Q.
The short-stacks were under early pressure to double up or bust and Julien Labussiere found himself in the perfect situation, looking down on pocket kings. Homann decided to make the call, holding A,10, and then proceeded to hit a two pair to send the Frenchman packing.

Homann continued to play well after Labussiere’s elimination and pretty soon his advantage became way too big to handle for the others.
Johan Williamsson followed on the Germans hit-list and seasoned professional Dominik Nitsche couldn't put off the inevitable any longer either. He bowed out in 6th place. Guillaume De La Gorce finished fifth after he shoved all-in holding pocket fives against Sebastian Compte’s pocket nines.
Felix Oberauer got all his chips into the middle holding an A,K against Homann’s pocket jacks. The flop fell 10,J,Q giving Oberauer the nut straight, but there was no beating Homann that day. The Q on the turn gave him a boat and Oberauer was done in 4th.
Compte busted in 3rd place, setting up the heads–up stage.
The heads-up action between Homann and Guillaume Cescut was quite a fiercely disputed spell, but the German eventually got away with the win.
