WPT Montreal – Day 3 Report

The second day of the WPT’s PartyPoker-sponsored Main Event saw 59 players belly up to the tables, the survivors of an initial starting field of 862. A total of four levels of action went into the day, at the end of which, 18 players were left standing. The one who finished Day 3 with the largest stack, was Sylvain Siebert, one of the previous chip leaders, who managed to amass 2.94 million chips to place himself into pole position going into what may turn out to be the final day of the poker tournament. Nobody finished with nearly as many chips as Siebert did with the exception of Derrick Rosenbarger (who had 2.87 million chips bagged), although several other players managed to surpass the 2 million chip mark. One of these players was third-place man Marco Cannizzaro, who ended up tying for the 4th spot with Antoine Berube. Both of them finished with exactly 2,156,000 chips. Alexandre Lavigne finished third, with 2.19 million chips to his name.

The first major confrontation of the Day saw a 3-way pot develop. The players involved in this pot were Siebert, Jonathan Little and Kevin MacPhee. The chips flew into the middle before the flop, and Little tabled a pair of 10s against MacPhee’s pair of Js and Siebert’s A,9o. Although he had the weakest hand before the first card hit the board, Siebert mounted a nice comeback as the Ah was the very first card to hit the flop. The rest of the cards blanked out and MacPhee was bounced. He was followed to the rail by Mohsin Charania (in 53rd place), Victor Ramdin (in 45th), Guillaume Darcourt (in 34th) and Mark Radoja (in 29th).
Little eventually made it through the day despite the early hit he took from Siebert, but he finished with only 388k chips.
PartyPoker are looking to reclaim their top spot in the online poker industry. The time to open an account with them has probably never been better.
