WPT Montreal – Derrick Rosenbarger Wins

The WPT’s Montreal Main event is in the books and the player who walked out the door of the Playground Poker Club with the title was Derrick Rosenbarger, who ended up $500.8k richer. Rosenbarger isn’t exactly new to the game, but major achievements have thus far eluded him. His only cash finish in a live poker tournament came in one of the $1k NL Holdem events of this year’s World Series of Poker. The player that Rosenbarger defeated heads-up for the title in Montreal, was Mukul Pahuja, who thusly finished second for a $340.9k prize. Serge Cantin ended up in third place, taking home a prize of $220.1k. Sylvain Siebert, the start of the day chip leader, and one of the most dominant players of the tournament ended up in a rather disappointing 4th place, picking up $162.9k for his efforts.
The last player to finish with a 6-figure price was 5th place finisher Lily Kiletto, who ended up collecting $121.8k.

At the beginning of the 6-handed final table, Kiletto’s was the shortest stack. On the 5th hand though, she caught a much-needed double-up and she then doubled again on the 14th hand of the final table. With that, she gained a large-enough lease on her tournament life to allow Alexandre Lavigne to bite the dust first, picking up $98.5k for his 6th place.
Serge Cantin was the one who pushed Lavigne out of contention. Immediately after Lavigne’s elimination, Kiletto put all her chips into the middle, on an A,8o. Siebert made the call with a dominating Ac, Qc, and so did Pahuja, but the latter ended up folding before showdown. Kiletto failed to catch up and Siebert scored another elimination. Unfortunately for him though, he was the next one to head to the rail: Cantin was the one who sent him packing, his pocket 8s holding up against Siebert’s Ad, 6d.
Cantin fell next, followed by Pahuja who blew a major lead during the heads-up action.
