WPT Parx Open Poker Classic – Anthony Gregg Wins

Anthony Gregg has been the stepson of high profile live
poker tournaments for quite a while now, in the sense that while he was always right there at the top, he never really managed to win one, until the other day that is, when he took down the WPT’s Parx Open Poker Classic.
Gregg himself said in a post-event interview that he truly appreciated the feeling of being able to lift his hand in victory. While the money is always nice coming in second or third, there’s nothing like the true exhilaration of victory and the bragging rights that come with it. Of course, the $416,127 top prize which Gregg handily pocketed won’t really ruin his day either.
At the beginning of the final stretch of the event, Gregg was already well positioned: he kicked off the final table second in chips. Stephen Reynolds was the front-runner, while the opposite end of the spectrum was represented by Andre Nyffeler. With all the pressure on the short-stacks at the beginning of the final table showdown, Nyffeler was quite naturally the first to go. He got his stack into the middle on a pair of 10s and got a call from Larry Sharp. The classic coin-flip went Sharp’s way and Nyffeler was handily disposed of. Chris Vandeursen was the next victim, falling in 5th place and picking up $76.8k for his efforts.
Larry Sharp’s tournament life came to an end next. His exit came after his Ad, Jd fell to Stephen Reynold’s Kh, Qh, which hit a flush. Sharp was the first player to break into 6-figures, taking home a $108k prize.
The next one to go was Chris Lee. Lee earned a $158.4k reward for his efforts.
The beginning of the heads-up action saw Anthony Gregg struggle with quite a substantial chip disadvantage. He managed to bounce back though and he closed the deal after his K,9o got the better of Stephen Reynolds’ A,4o in the final hand of the event.
