WPT Prague – Day 3 Report

The objective of the starting field of 63 players on Day 3 of the WPT’s Prague Main Event was to play down to the 6-handed final table and that objective was indeed accomplished. Martins Adeniya of Britain led the pack at the beginning of the day, but he failed to make it to the final table. He was brushed aside together with quite a bunch of other “name” professionals by the mad rush towards the top. Mike McDonald was the very first victim of the day: he bit the dust in 63rd place. He was followed to the rail by Vinny Pahuja (in 62nd) and Mohsin Charania (in 61st). Eugen Katchalov found the way to the rail as well: he finished 60th.
Casey Kastle, one of the day 1 chip leaders, busted out in 38th place. He was followed by Chris McClung and Jamie Rosen. Rosen’s last hand saw his pocket 8s fall to Andrey Pateychuk’s J,10o.
While some struggled through treacherous
Holdem waters, others thrived of course, and nobody had it better than Germany’s Stanislaw Kretz, who ended up with the chip lead at the end of the day.
Chris McClung played well for a while too, but he eventually ran out of steam in 27th place, though not before he provided Kretz with a giant boost: Kretz picked up 2 million chips from him, after he flopped a full house against whatever McClung had. He then went on a rampage, eliminating a whole bunch of name players like Tobias Reinkemeier, Thomas Fradsen and Jan Bendik. He eventually ended the day with a stack of 6.3 million chips.
Benjamin Pollak played extremely well too: he finished second, with a stack of 4.8 million chips. Pollak’s big break came when he scored a huge pot against Zachary Korik, after his pocket Qs held up against Korik’s Ac, 3c.
Andrey Pateychuk also made the table in possession of a 2.3 million stack.
