WPT Prague – Day 4 Report

The objective for the 4th day of the WPT’s
PartyPoker sponsored Prague Main Event was to play down to the final table. 22 players showed up at the beginning of the day and when the action was called, there were indeed only 6 of them left standing. Bodo Sbrzesny finished the day with the largest stack: he managed to build a stack of more than 4.6 million chips.
When the action kicked off at the beginning of the day, there were still quite a few “name” players left in the field. As things progressed through, they were all sent to the rail one by one. Lars Bonding was the first player to fall: he was bounced in 22nd place, picking up $15.9k for his efforts. Yann Dion didn’t fare much better either: he was picked off in 20th place and he ended up taking home a $17.8k prize. Dmitry Gromov was the next “name” player to go. He was eliminated in 17th place. He was followed to the rail by Dermot Blain, who ran out of steam in 13th place. Blain picked up $23.7k for his efforts.
The next “name” player to leave the
poker tournament was Jason Mercier. When the action kicked off, Mercier had the shortest remaining stack. He did a great job navigating the treacherous waters of the final table dash however, and even though he didn’t make it, he logged a spectacular deep run, his deepest WPT one yet. On his last hand, he was all-in with J,8o against Sbrzesny’s A,5o. The flop did give him a pair of Js but the turn filled Sbrzesny’s flush draw and Mercier was out, collecting $29.2k for his 12th place.
Kevin MacPhee and Fabian Quoss were eliminated as well. The final table bubble-boy was Elio Fox.
