WSOP 2011 – Day 11 Wrap-Up

Besides the two bracelet-producing events, Day 11 of the 2011 WSOP saw action through a handful of other events too.
Event #15, the $1,500 PL Holdem event, saw 88 players return to the green felt on day 2 of the tournament. The milestone that the field aimed for on Day 2 was the money-bubble. Sure enough, it was reached when James Dempsey busted out on a top pair vs wheel match-up, leaving all the other survivors inside the money. Alessio Isaia, John Dolan and Hoyt Corkins all made it past the bubble.
The end of the second day of action saw the final 10 reached. Brian Rast was the one who had amassed the largest stack by that stage, but Allen Kessler also remained in contention, together with Ted Lawson.

The $10k NL 2-7 Lowball World Championship event also saw 88 players return to action on its day 2, among them “name” pros like Phil Hellmuth, who was looking to end his long WSOP bracelet drought and possibly make the final table towards that end on day 2. The Poker Brat got lucky: by the end of the day, only 9 players were still in action, and he was among them, eventually finishing the day in 7th place. In order to secure #12 though, he will have to fight past players like David Baker, Hasan Habib, John Juanda and Richard Ashby. Steve Sung and Nick Shulman will also do their best to prevent the Brat from securing yet another reason to brag.

Only one event got rolling on Day 11 of the 2011 WSOP, the $1,500 HORSE one. A massive starting field of 963 showed up for this event, blowing last year’s attendance record clean away by a margin of 135 players.
Notables who registered for the event were: Jeff Lisandro, Matt Savage, Erick Lindgren, Doyle Brunson, Michael Chow and Allen Bari. At the end of the day, 196 players remained, among them Victor Ramdin and Eli Elezra who finished atop the provisional leader board.
