WSOP 2013 – Event #21 Plays Down to Final 13

The second day of event #21, the $3k NL Holdem 6-handed event of the 2013 WSOP, didn’t manage to play down to the final table on its second day. 129 players showed up at the start of the day, out of the original starting field of 807. At the end of the day, 13 players were left in contention, with the final table bubble still intact and with still some way to go before the home stretch of the event. The one who will start the final day of the poker tournament with the best mathematical odds to go all the way is Matt Stout, who finished Day 2 with 1.26 million chips.
Stout is indeed in a rather favorable position, because he was the only player who managed to amass more than 1 million chips. The player second in the current chip-counts is Benjamin Pollak, who had 756k chips bagged.

Stout had been playing well all through the day, and he had held the chip lead even before he picked up a massive pot as the action wound down. The hand in question developed against Erik Seidel. Stout was the one who began pushing the envelope with an 18k bet from the cut-off. Seidel responded with a 55k three-bet from the SB. Stout made the call and after the flop fell, Seidel took the initiative. Stout called to see the turn card and after Seidel checked, he checked too. When the river card fell – which turned out to be a brick just like the rest of the board – Seidel placed a 75k chip bet, in response to which Stout pushed all-in.
His pocket 10s turned out to be much better than Seidel’s pocket 8s and he took down the pot.
Other Day 2 survivors were Dan Kelly, David Pham, Nick Schulman and Erik Seidel himself.
