WSOP-APAC 2014 Set, Schedule to be Released Later

The first ever edition of the WSOP-APAC was a major success, despite the cries of detractors that it would do nothing but further dilute the value of the gold bracelet, and WSOP are obviously looking to build on that success. According to an announcement made by WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart, for 2014, the WSOP-APAC will be back in Melbourne, at the Crown Melbourne and it will feature no fewer than 10 bracelet events, once again giving quite a number of players the chance to grab the elusive gold outside the usual framework of the WSOP’s annual Las Vegas round-up.
The 2014 WSOP-APAC will take place between October 1 and October 17 and its complete schedule will be announced sometime in early 2014. The organizers have agreed to make the event a bi-annual one, which means that in 2015, there will be no WSOP-APAC, so bracelets will be much scarcer that year.
Stewart also said that the WSOP considered it its mission to put on a single massive global showcase each year, which would allow for better organization and for better regional marketing.
In accordance with this strategy, the WSOP-E (World Series of Poker Europe) will be turned into a bi-annual event as well, meaning that while the WSOP-APAC will take place during even years, the WSOP-E will move to the odd years.

As far as coverage goes, there will be no steps back in 2014: like its inaugural edition, the 2014 APAC will be televised globally. Thanks to the participation and success of players like PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu in the 2013 WSOP-APAC, next year’s edition is pretty much guaranteed to draw massive crowds and numerous “name” participants.

Before the WSOP-APAC though, the Crown Melbourne is set to host another major international event, the Aussie Millions, which kick off on January 23.
