WSOP-APAC – Day 10 Report
Posted by: James Carter. - Sun, 2014-10-12 09:21
The 10th day of the 2014 edition of the WSOP-APAC saw only two events unfold, but in one of these events Phil Hellmuth, the 13-time WSOP bracelet winner, was in line to secure his 14th piece of jewelry. Indeed, with Hellmuth looking to make it all the way in it, all eyes were on the AU$2.2k Six-max NL Holdem event of the Series.
6 players returned to the tables on the last day of action in the above said
poker tournament and eventually, it “only” took them 8 hours to play down to a winner. That winner was local cash game player Alexander Antonios, who picked up the gold bracelet instead of Hellmuth, together with the AU$128.7k top prize and the bragging rights. Hellmuth eventually faded away in 4th place.

The first player to bite the dust at the final table was Bruno Politano. A member of this year’s November Nine, Politano started off on a short-stack and he soon put his tournament life onto the line with pocket Qs. Hellmuth was the one who made the call with A,K for the classic coin-flip. The turn gave the lead to Hellmuth and Politano was gone.
Yu Kurita followed him to the rail in 5th place. Michael Tran was the one who sent him packing and Tran then followed it up with Phil Hellmuth’s elimination. The Brat had his tournament life on the line with an A,7o. Tran called him with pocket 4s and none of the hands improved with the board.
Steven Zhou was the one to be bounced in third place to set up the heads-up stage of the event. Tran fell last, his 10s,9c no match for Antonios’ K, 4o.
The second event of the day, the AU$5k 8-Game Mixed event, played down to its final table.
