WSOP APAC Event #1 – Day 1C Report

The third day 1 flight of the WSOP APAC’s popular NL Holdem Accumulator event drew 419 players to the tables of the famous Crown Casino. Everything accounted for, the first day of the event saw 1,085 buy-ins go into its prize-pool. When the final numbers were in, it became clear that the eventual winner of the event would take home a $211.5k prize on top of the first ever WSOP bracelet awarded in this part of the world.
A total of 64 players managed to navigate the treacherous waters of Day 1C with success, which means that on day 2, a starting field of 144 players will belly up to the tables. Local player Nick Morales finished the day with the largest stack, having amassed 57.2k chips. Other players who did well were Ryan Otto, Jason Lee and Antoine Saout, who finished with 45.5k chips to his name. James Obst finished with a healthy stack as well.

Morales’ Day 1C run was about much more than simply amassing more chips than anyone else: he was the one who bounced Phil Hellmuth, collecting the last chips of the Poker Brat and shooting into the lead shortly thereafter.
The hand which saw Hellmuth head to the rail featured a classic “perfect hand” situation. Hellmuth had a set of tens and another player involved had a two pair against Morales’ flopped Broadway straight. Neither the turn nor the river impacted the already made hands in any way and Morales scooped up a massive pot. Thanks to the accumulator nature of the event, we will in fact see Hellmuth return on Day 2, behind a stack of 20.6k chips.

The player who will start Day 2 with the largest stack is Antoine Saout, who has 105.3k chips accumulated.
