The second ever player to win a
WSOP bracelet in Australia has been crowned the other day: Jim Collopy won the second event of the WSOP APAC, the $1,650 PLO event, taking home the AUD$69.6k top prize. The third day of the said event saw 9 players return to the final table, all set on making it as close to the top spot as possible. Needless to say, the final table had indeed quite a few illustrious names battling it out for the title: bracelet-hungry Marvin Rettenmaier was the first one to bite the dust. He moved all-in with a pair of Ks and a flush draw, and he got called by Dan Shak, who proceeded to make a straight to pick up the pot and to draw first blood at the final table. Rettenmaier picked up a little over AUD$6k for his 9th place. He was followed to the rail by local player Martin Kozlov who was bounced by Scott Reid.
Mike Leah was the next victim of the home stretch: he was rewarded with AUD$9.9k for his 7th place.
Leah was followed to the rail by Paul Sharbanee and then by Dan Shak. Shak was eliminated by Edison Nguyen, who made a straight against Shak’s higher straight draw which failed to fill up.
Scott Reid was the next player to hit the sideline, followed by Tino Lechich. Lechich’s elimination set up the heads-up stage of the
poker tournament. Collopy was the one who sent Lechich packing, which meant that he started the heads-up bout with the chip lead. It only took him 50 hands to put his opponent away for good and to claim the bracelet. The last hand of the event saw his two pair triumph, handing him the title and the bling.
