WSOP APAC Main Event – Final Table Reached

Day 4 of the WSOP APAC’s Main Event was a short but interesting one. Only 15 players returned to the tables of the Crown Casino, with the objective to play down to the final table. It took the field about 30 minutes to register the first bust. In the beginning, it looked like they would play down to the most pro-laden final table in the history of the
WSOP Main Events, but in the end, it wasn’t meant to be. While Kid Poker Daniel Negreanu fulfilled his part of the bargain, Antonio Esfandiari failed to make the 8-handed home stretch of the event.
Yasar Gueden was the first victim of day 4. His elimination was a classic 1-2 affair: first, he ran his K.Qo into Winfred Yu’s pocket rockets and dropped a major pot to him, leaving himself crippled. Then, he pushed all-in, holding a K,8o against Benny Spindler and George Tsatsis. With the odds sky-high against him, he faded away in 15th place at the end of the hand.
Raj Ramakhrishnan followed Gueden to the rail in 14th place, and Michael Pedley bit the dust in 13th.
Joel Feldman followed, sent to the rail by Winfred Yu, whose pocket Js won the classic coin-flip against his A,Ko. Tino Lechich’s elimination in 11th place set up the unofficial final table. Jordan Westmoreland followed him out the door in 10th place, and it looked like the most star-studded WSOP final table ever would indeed become a reality.
Esfandiari’s elimination came at the end of a classic coin-flip too: he was all-in with A,Ko against Benny Spindler’s pocket Qs and failed to catch up. Spindler finished the day with the largest stack thanks to this pot. Daniel Negreanu finished second. Russell Thomas made the final table too.
