15 players returned on the final day of the
WSOP-C’s Caesars Palace Main Event, looking to play down to a winner. Jeff Fielder was the player who started the day with the biggest stack. The first one to be bounced from the
poker tournament was Daniel Harmetz, whose 15th place finish earned him a reward of $13.7k. Other players who followed him to the rail were David Stefanski (14th place), Anthony Di Stefano, Daniel Quick and Blake Barousse. Barousse’s elimination set the unofficial 10-handed final table.
In order for the official final table to be reached, another player had to go. That player was Janelle Jacobson, who bit the dust in 10th place at the hands of Fabio Coppola.
With the official final table reached, Fielder still had the largest stack. This stage of the event saw the action tighten up quite a bit though: it took over two hours to score the first final table elimination. The victim was Salvatore Dicarlo, whose 9th place finish was worth $21k. Having broken the ice, Dicarlo was followed to the rail by Steve Goldberg. Ping Liu faded away in 7th place, before Fielder began having troubles too.
It all started the usual way: he began bleeding chips left and right and then he suddenly found himself a short-stack. The last of his chips went into the middle on a flop of K,Q,8 all-hearts. All he had at that point was a pair of Qs though and a 4-card heart flush. Shaun Suller called him with Ah, Ks though and he was pretty much beaten. Neither the turn nor the river bailed him out and he was bounced in 6th place. He picked up $43.6k.
The heads-up stage of the event saw Tuthill best AP Phahurat for the $223.1k prize and a seat in the WSOP-C National Championship.
