WSOP-C Caesars Palace – Day 1A Report

The WSOP-C’s Caesars Palace stop is doubtlessly one of the most prestigious and pro-laden stops of the circuit. This year’s edition of the event kicked off on Friday, when 311 players showed up for the first day 1 flight. At the end of the day, only 58 players were left standing. Ryan Welch was the one who managed to finish the day with the largest stack: he accumulated 424.9k chips to clinch the top spot. Welch is by no means a stranger to the
WSOP. Not only does he have 7 WSOP cashes to his name, he has a bracelet too, which he won in 2010. As far as the WSOP-C is concerned, Welch hasn’t been quite as successful: he only scored one cash finish, back in 2008.
The second-place man for the day was David Tuthill, who finished with 274.1k chips, quite a bit less than the leader. Andrew Watson played well too: he ended up in 3rd place behind a stack of 267k chips.
Welch has had a pretty impressive day indeed. He got to building his stack as soon as the action kicked off and he kept up the pressure through the day. One of the biggest pots that he picked up came from David Miscikowski, during level 9. The hand which led to the massive pot was a classic coin-flip: Miscikowski’s A,Q against Welch’s pocket Js. The Js held and Welch won the hand.
Tuthill had a good day too. He too ended up taking down a massive pot, after he hit a boat against Erik Roussakis. David Kruger then donated a bunch of his chips to further forward Tuthill’s Day 1A case.
Scotty Nguyen and David Sands were also among the survivors, together with Ari Engel and Erick Lindgren.
