WSOP-C Caesars Palace – Day 1B Report

The starting field of the second Day 1 flight of the
WSOP-C’s Caesars Palace Main Event easily eclipsed that of the previous day: no fewer than 433 players bellied up to the tables, which means that the total on the starting field has hit the 744 player mark. A total of 93 players had their tickets punched on Day 1B, as the majority of the field whittled away.
Salvatore DiCarlo was the player who emerged with the largest stack at the end of the day. He accumulated 421.7k chips, quite a bit more indeed than second place man Matthew Leecy, who finished with 225.3k.
DiCarlo didn’t shoot into the lead until the final level of the day, when he managed to take down a monster pot from Brandon Hall. The hand started out as a 3-way one, but after Kurt Jewell got out of the way, only DiCarlo and Hall remained. DiCarlo was the one who pushed all-in with pocket rockets, and Hall made the call, holding a rather feeble-looking pair of Qs. The board fell a bunch of blanks and DiCarlo picked up the goods, taking his stack above the 400k mark for the first time.
Adam Junglen had a decent
poker tournament as well. Like the chip leader, Junglen managed to add to his stack significantly towards the later stages of the action. He took down a major pot in a hand which saw him make a set of deuces on the flop, while finding a player who moved all-in. He pounced on the opportunity and he finished with 158.6k chips to his name.
Other “name” players who survived Day 1b were Scott Clements, Steve Gross and Eric Baldwin.
Several high profile pros bit the dust. Vanessa Rousso failed to advance, together with Tristan Wade and Vinny Pahuja.
