The
WSOP-C has generated record starting fields, massive individual prizes and action well enough to live up to the hype of the circuit’s name. The 6th stop of the current WSOP-C season is in full swing at Lake Tahoe, where poker events have been unfolding all through this week. The Main Event is still to come though, and at $1,675 a pop, it’s expected to yield yet another record-breaking starting field. The Lake Tahoe stop, hosted by Harvey’s, has kicked off on November 8 and it is supposed to wrap up on the 19th. Already, there has been plenty of drama at the green felt, and plenty of notable accomplishments as well.
Daniel Gilmer has dominated the action thus far, winning two of the ring-awarding events, to jump to the top of the Casino Championship leader board.
Gilmer’s first win came in the $365
NL Holdem Turbo event, when he took down a $16.4k prize, having survived a field of 220 starters.
His second win came in event #6, the $365 NL Holdem one, in which he had a 219 player starting field to contend with. This time his reward was slightly smaller, weighing in at $15.6k. To add more luster to his victory, in event #6 he outplayed a final table that had 3 other WSOP-C ring winners in the fold.
In a post-victory interview, Gilmer said that he had been chasing a WSOP-C ring for years and that it was amazing to finally get the monkey off his back by winning two in one week.
The event which has thus far yielded the largest top prize was event #4, the $365 NL Holdem Re-Entry one. The winner of this event, Gregory Guth of Yuba City, CA, took home $40k for his efforts.
