WSOP-C Harvey’s Lake Tahoe Main Event – Day 2 Report

The official Day 2 of the WSOP’s Lake Tahoe Main Event hosted by Harvey’s is in the books. A total of 165 players showed up at the tables at the beginning of the day. Most of these players were legitimate Day 1 survivors, however there were a few who took advantage of late registration and bought in at the beginning of the day.
Cary Marshall was the player who finished the day with the largest stack. Derrick Yamada had a great day too: he finished second with 1.58 million chips. Yamada started the day on the right foot: he pushed all-in against two opponents, on a flop of Jd, 2c, 9c. The other two players folded, and he ended up taking down the pot, but that move was only the first one of many more equally successful ones to follow.

He locked horns with several other players, among them with Ylon Schwartz too. At one point, Schwartz five-bet, prompting Yamada to call him with pocket Ks. Schwartz then tabled an A,Jo, and proceeded to lose the pot when nothing on the board hit either player involved. The two players tangled again a tad later, and Yamada managed to bounce Schwartz this time around. Yamada had K,Q against his opponent’s K,J. He didn’t stop there either. He took another major pot off John Deng a tad later, and on one of the last hands of the day, he took another pile of chips off Seth McGrath.
Marshall made his fair share of good decisions in the poker tournament too: at one point, he called Emanuel Vacakis’ all-in, with nothing but a pair of 9s. It turned out that Vacakis had only a pair of 6s so it was indeed the right move to make. 13 players remained standing.
