WSOP-C Horseshoe Hammond Main Event – Day 1B

The second day 1 flight of the WSOP-C’s Horseshoe Hammond Main Event saw another massive starting field belly up to the tables: 677 players showed up for this round of the battle. The action was much slower this time around, but the eventual chip leader, Phillip Liou, still managed to build a monster-stack of 347.5k chips, overtaking Mike Leah, the Day 1A chip leader and grabbing the overall lead. Of the 677 starters, about 150 made it through day 1B.
Although there were fewer starters than in the previous day, the field was still as star-laden as it could possibly get. Two of the Mizrachis, Michael and Robert were there, together with Nick Jivkov, Brian Hastings and Gavin Smith.
Michal Mizrachi may have had plenty of eyes on him, but he failed to impress this time. He was eliminated during the third level of action, by Ghaleb Zayed. Mizrachi was the one who made the all-in move on a flop of J,5.4 rainbow. Zayed was quick to make the call, as he held pocket Jacks for the top set. Mizrachi’s pocket 8s never got a fighting chance, and The Grinder bowed out at a very early stage of the
poker tournament.
As the herd was further culled, other name players hit the rail too. Allen Kessler was among them, together with Matt Affleck, Victor Ramdin and Chad Brown. While some were busy dragging their feet to the rail, others were riding high, sailing right into Day 2. Faraz Jaka and Ryan Julius were among these players, together with Blair Hinkle and Joseph Elpayaa. Faraz Jaka in particular had an excellent Day 1B run: he was constantly near the top of the pops, grabbing the chip lead on several occasions.
