WSOP-C Horseshoe Southern Indiana – Charles Moore wins

The second stop of the WSOP-C’s new season took place at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana. The new revamped buy-in structure attracted more players than usual, although the prize-pool and thus the subsequent payouts were much smaller than usual too. The winner, Charles Moore from Dallas, TX took home $99,878, but he also got a gold championship ring and a seat in the National Championship, so the haul was not a bad one after all.
The final table of the poker tournament began with the surviving players ripping into each other mercilessly. Thus, when the first level of the day concluded, 3 of the final table participants had already been reduced to spectators. Joel Merwick was the first casualty of the day. He was followed to the rail by Jorge Solorzano, whose Ad,4d never looked good against John Alfera’s As, Js. The flop brought Alfera another J and Solorzano was out in 8th, with $11,486 in his pocket.

Alfera was the next one to exit, after about 45 minutes. He shoved all-in, holding pocket rockets and got called by John Holder with pocket 9s. Holder then proceeded to hit a set on the flop to send Alfera packing.
Brian McKain was eliminated right after the break. He was followed to the rail by Kris Bradshaw. Mike Foster was eliminated in 4th place, when his K,Qo fell to Moore’s pocket 8s.
John Holder’s elimination set the heads-up stage of the event.
Moore started the heads-up action with a 3-1 chip lead, but that didn’t mean the battle would be a short one. As a matter of fact, the hostilities dragged on for almost 2 hours and Calenzo managed to work off most of his initial handicap. The Final hand of the poker tournament saw Calenzo’s A.Ko fall to Moore’s pocket 9s.
