WSOP-C River Rock – Day 1B Report

352 players bellied up to the tables of the River Rock Casino on the second Day 1 flight of the WSOP-C Main Event taking place there. The Day 1B turn-out took the total number of registrants to 646.
Day 1B was just as efficient at whittling away the competition as Day 1A had been: by the end of it, there were only 87 players left in contention. Jingjing Liu was the player who managed to finish with the biggest stack this time around. The higher number of Day 1B participants and the higher number of eliminations meant that she was able to clinch the overall chip lead too.
Liu had a good run from the get go, but it was only right before the final level of the day that she managed to cement her position at the top for good. The hand which saw her jump to the top began with a late-position, short-stacked player pushing all-in on an A,10o. The SB then shoved all-in too, and Liu, who had pocket kings in the BB, made the call.
Her Ks held and she knocked out two players in one swoop, building up a massive lead over the rest of the field.

Day 1B had its fair share of “name” players too: Greg Mueller, who was one of these pros, finished the day with a large stack as well. While he was rather late to buy into the poker tournament, Mueller didn’t skip a beat during the day, and he finished with 180.3k chips to his name.
Others who made it on decent stacks were Matt Levine and Sandra Wong. Gavin Smith on the other hand wasn’t that lucky. He was joined on the rail by David Sands, Matt Affleck and Jason Koon.
