WSOP-C Tunica final table report

Kai Landry of Biloxi, MS took down the first prize of the WSOP Circuit’s Tunica Main Event, beating all the other players in a 3-day slugfest extravaganza.
In the heads-up stage, he disposed of David Dao (the player who held the chip lead at the end of Day 1).
Matt Stout was the one leading the pack when the final table action kicked off, with a stack measuring almost 3 times as much as Landry’s. Jeremy Byrum, Leonard Eidson, Michael Leah Brian McCoy, Frank Wyville and Glen Hyde were the other final table participants.

The final table short-stack was Frank Wyville who wasted no time in attempting to double up as soon as the action got underway. The crowd favorite, Wyville just couldn’t get anything going at the final table. His first move would prove to be his last one too, as he decided to call David Dao’s all-in with his K,Q. Dao showed A,K to grab a solid lead, one that would hold out as the A on the river spelt the end of Wyville’s run in the event.

With Wyville’s elimination, the unenviable position of short-stack befell Brian McCoy whose palms began to itch too very soon. He got into a 3-way tussle with David Dao and Matt Stout, and as he shoved all-in Dao promptly folded. Matt Stout called quickly though, showing A,K of spades. McCoy’s A,J was in deep trouble as the board fell 9,8,9,Q, 4 and his fate was sealed.

Glen Hyde became another early victim as he ran his K,J into Leah’s 5,6 which went on to make a straight on the turn. Leah’s luck wouldn’t hold though, as he was the very next elimination as his Q,Q got bounced by Matt Stout’s A,A.
Jeremy Byrum fell next, when his K,J proved to be no good against Leonard Eidson’s pocket Qs. Next, Matt Stout and Kai Landry teamed up against Eidson and checked him down all the way to do away with him in 4th.

Matt Stout was bounced by Landry in 3rd, on a 7,7 vs A,Q match-up in which a third 7 landed on the river to give Landry a set and send Stout packing.
The heads-up between Landry and Dao was a short affair. The last hand saw all the chips heading into the middle as Landry took his Q,J against Dao’s J,7. The board failed to improve either hand and David Dao was done for in 2nd.
