The WSOP's stepsister, the WSOP-C, or
World Series of Poker Circuit, has been a wildly successful live poker series over the last few years at its own level of course. It still had one major shortcoming though: the fact that it was confined entirely to the US. That drawback will apparently be addressed shortly though: it was about two weeks ago that Simone Ricce, Caesars Interactive Entertainment's Director of Events and Sponsorship let word slip about the first ever Italian WSOP Event being planned for September, in the Casino di Campione, causing quite a ruckus. A day ago, WSOP officials did indeed confirm the Italian event and they added a couple more to the lineup, scheduled to take place in Morocco and in Mexico, marking a serious international expansion of the Circuit.
The move is a sweeping one, which will see WSOP licenses awarded to various venues world-over, that won't just give them the right to host circuit events, it will also allow them to offer satellites for the WSOP Las Vegas as well as the various WSOP Europe events.

According to WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart, it was indeed about time to turn the WSOP into a truly international brand, and to finally fulfill a need so many players have always had: to experience the WSOP closer to home.
In the US, the WSOP-C has already secured a solid foothold: there are some 20 stops, to which the three new, international ones shall be added. The National Championship will be renamed the WSOP International Casino Championship, to reflect the newfound nature of the Series.
