WSOP.com Early Access Granted to Some

Although WSOP.com, the first ever real money online poker operation under the
WSOP brand and the first one ever in which Caesars Interactive Entertainment are also involved, was originally scheduled to launch on September 19, and the majority of Nevada-based players who are interested in the action WSOP.com offers, will indeed only be able to log on then, for a select few, the cards are already in the air: at this year’s WSOP, players could pre-register for the
online poker room, and now those who took advantage of that pre-registration, have all been invited to play. All these players were sent an email containing a special link, through which they could download the software. Once inside, they could engage in cash game action, but SNGs and MTTs were also live. Despite the fact that the legalization and regulation of real money online poker has been all over the news for more than a year now, WSOP.com is actually the first operation to compete with Ultimate Poker, a site launched a few months ago.
Already, things don’t look particularly encouraging for Ultimate Poker: the site has thus far not really managed to amass proper player liquidity and WSOP.com is basically a brand-torpedo headed its way. Also, while Ultimate Poker only offers NL Holdem currently, WSOP.com already boasts a more than decent game selection.
To top it all off, WSOP.com has an industry-standard loyalty program in place as well, called Action Club, which is indeed a huge asset in the long-run. Needless to say, WSOP.com will probably feature the best satellites to the WSOP and to other major live events as well. A major online poker series is also in the making: scheduled for October, the WSOP.com Online Championships will feature 9 tournaments, giving away a total of $500k in guaranteed prizes. The winners of the events will go on to play in the Online Nine, which will unfold simultaneously with the November Nine.
