The 5th day of the World Series of Poker Europe saw event #2 of the 2013 Series play down to a winner, as Event #3 played down to its final 16. Event #4, the €1,650 PLO one, kicked off.
Event #2, the €1.1k
NL Holdem Re-buy event, saw 9 players return to its final table. Henrik Johansson started the home stretch with the biggest stack, and he successfully parlayed his advantage into a victory. He defeated Adriano-Torre Grossa heads-up and he made no deals to cut into this first place prize of €129.7k.
The runner-up was rewarded with €80.2k.
An interesting story of the final table was that of Serge Ekert, who started the day with the smallest stack. He managed a couple of early double-ups, and eventually managed to stretch his
poker tournament life out all the way to 5th place, earning a €32.99k reward for his efforts. Ekert even managed to survive one of only two notables who had made the final stretch: Daniel Laidlaw’s tournament life expired in 6th place. He earned €25.1k.
Daniel Weinman on the other hand made it to 4th, picking up €43.77k.
The second day of event #3, the €5.3k Mixed Max NL Holdem one, saw 140 players belly up to the tables, including the 5 who had registered right before the action got going. The end of the day saw 16 players survive the hostilities. The one who finished with the largest stack was Noah Schwartz, who had 262k chips bagged. Phil Ivey made the cut too, his 90.5k chips enough for 10th place.
Event #4, the €1,650 PLO one, saw 184 players belly up to its tables on its first day. Ryan Chapman finished the day with the most chips, leading 34 survivors into Day 2. PokerStars’ Jason Mercier and Jeremy Ausmus were among the survivors too.
