WSOP-E Ladies Event – Day 1 Report

On Friday, the 2013 edition of the World Series of Poker Europe got going with the €1.1k Ladies Event, which is the first one ever in the history of the Series. Given the fact that the event does indeed offer a WSOP bracelet for a more than reasonable buy-in, it was somewhat surprising that only 65 players showed up for its first day.
PokerStars’ Liv Boeree was among the starters of course, together with Loni Harwood and Allyn Jaffrey Shulman. The tournament could probably have played right down to a winner on its first day, but since it had been scheduled as a 2-day event, the action was halted when the 8-handed final table was reached.
The one to finish with the largest stack was Australia’s Jackie Glazer, who had 57.4k chips bagged at the end of the day.

Those who know a thing or two about Glazier are probably not the least bit surprised by her presence at the top of the pops of the Ladies’ event, after all, she did make an outstandingly deep run in the WSOP Main Event this summer, finishing in 31st place.
On account of the shallow starting field, the 8 women who made the final table are not yet guaranteed a payout. In fact, the action was halted right on the money bubble, given that the top 7 places are paid.
Liv Boeree won’t have to fret about making the money though: she never made it through Day 1. She was joined on the rail by Harwood and Shulman.
Another “name” player who actually made the final table cut was Gaelle Baumann, but she will start with only 4.5k chips, which pretty much guarantees that she will in fact end up the bubble-girl.
The remaining field reconvenes on Saturday to play down to the winner, whose reward will be €21.85k.

Play at PokerStars and win a seat in a major live event like a WSOP-E tournament, though the generous online qualifiers on offer there.
