WSOP-E Ladies Event – Jackie Glazier Wins

The first event of the 2013 WSOP Europe is in the books, and its winner is Jackie Glazier. Glazier started the final day of the Ladies Event (the first ever in the history of the WSOP-E) with the largest stack and she took advantage of her position: she made no deals on her way to the top. She picked up €21.8k, as well as her first
WSOP bracelet, having defeated Maryline Valente heads-up.
Eight players returned to the tables on the second and last day of the
poker tournament, looking to play down to a winner. With 7th being the first paying position, the ladies began discussing a deal, which would’ve seen each of them contribute €200 to keep the player hitting the rail in 8th from going home empty-handed. Everyone agreed, with Glazier’s exception, so in the end, Anais Lerouge, bounced in 8th, went home with nothing to show after all.
Gaelle Baumann was the first player to fall within the money: she took home €3.2k for her efforts. She was followed to the rail by Sherrie Lindsey-Jones, whose 7th place was worth €3.8k.
Nathalie Odet was the next victim. She picked up € 4.7k for her 5th place. Celina Bastian was bounced next in 4th, followed by Laurie Bismuth in 3rd. Bastian’s reward was €6.3k, while Bismuth picked up €8.9k for her efforts. Bismuth’s elimination set up the heads-up stage of the poker tournament between Glazier and Valente.
As the home dash of the tournament began, Valente got out to an early lead, only about 20 hands into the heads-up bout. Glazier fought back though, regaining the lead, and eventually cornering her opponent.
The last hand of the encounter saw Glazier open, in response to which Valente pushed all-in. It turned out she had pocket 6s against Glazier’s pocket Js and the tournament was over.
