WSOP preview: things to do in Vegas

Vegas is slowly being taken over by the
WSOP fever these days, and soon there will be thousands of players and railbirds descending on the Strip. The good news is, because of the economic downturn and the negative effects it’s had on the gambling industry, visitors are likely to be met in Sin City with better offers and more incentives than ever before.
Las Vegas of course, is not just about poker and gambling. Even during the WSOP, there will be countless other opportunities for entertainment and having an idea or two about some of the venues, will make your choice much easier once you’re there.
If extreme sensations and adrenaline overflow is your thing, the Big Shot is something you must do. Featured on Discovery Channel a while ago, in a series detailing some of the most extreme fun rides on the planet, the Big Shot is located at the Stratosphere and is truly one of the wildest things you’ll ever have the chance to experience. The ride shoots customers up with 4Gs acceleration and then lets them freefall close to the bottom of the tower which supports the ride.
Another similar experience is on offer closer to the Strip, on Convention Center Drive. Indoor sky diving is available for all those who are over 40 lbs and under 300. This spot is basically about giant fans that generate enough wind-power to hold you up in the air as if you were freefalling out of an airplane, minus the scenery.
Looking for something more educational? You may want to check out the Bodies Exhibition at Luxor. Taking a look inside the human body and realizing its complexity is a truly sobering experience and this one is a truly exhaustive exhibit.
Nevada is mostly known for its gambling these days, but it’s famous for some chilling historic events as well. The atomic bomb was tested in the Nevada desert and The Atomic Testing Museum, across the Strip from the Rio offers a detailed account of it.
Of course, the Bellagio fountains are always worth checking out too, as well as the Volcano at the Mirage.
