Having teamed up with Caesars Interactive Entertainment, the
WSOP has made it clear a long time ago that it would aim to carve out its own share of the newly legalized and regulated Nevada online poker market, and the other day, they made the first concrete step in that regard, announcing the actual launch date of their real money operation through a conference call.
The launch, which will take place on Thursday, September 19, will mark a first for Caesars Interactive Entertainement too: the company has never before ventured into online poker/gambling in any shape or form. Regardless of how things turn out, the new online poker site will have the backing of two of the strongest brands in poker and gambling.
The site will only be available to residents of the state of Nevada, but visitors to the state will also be able to access it. Only people 21 and older will be allowed to access the online tables and there will be a thorough age- and location verification system in place, to make sure there are no mishaps.
According to Caesars Interactive Entertainment CEO Mitch Garber, WSOP.com will offer an unrivaled
online poker experience, merging land-based and online gaming in unprecedented ways.
WSOP.com will offer cash games, SNGs, MTTs and satellites to various live events to all comers. Their cash games as well as their tournaments will aim to cover as wide a range of buy-ins as possible, thus giving everyone the chance to have a good time at the site.
There will also be $100 and $25 freerolls on a daily basis for players of all levels. The game selection will include Holdem, Omaha and 7-Card Stud in all betting-structures and variants. The software that will power WSOP.com is the 888 Holdings software.
