WSOPE – Day 2 Action

The World Series of Poker Europe rolled into its second day in Cannes, with two events seeing action: one was event #1, the €2.7k Six-handed NL Holdem one, which entered its second day. The other was the €1.1k NL Holdem event, which kicked off with its first day 1 flight.
50 players returned to the tables on the second day of the €2.7k Six-handed NL Holdem event, with the goal of playing past the money bubble. That goal was handily achieved indeed, as by the end of the day, only 8 players were still standing. Yannick Bonnet finished the day with the largest stack. He was the only player who managed to climb above the 300k chip mark on day 2.
Jeff Rossiter was the official bubble boy of the event. He shoved all-in with an Ac, Qc and got called by Matan Krakow, who had pocket 9s for the classic coin-flip. The board landed nothing but bricks and Rossiter was eliminated.
The next player to bite the dust was a ‘name’ competitor as well: having barely made the money, Phil Hellmuth busted out too, at the end of a rather similar coin-flip. Brandon Cantu and David Baker were also eliminated in the money. Roberto Romanello finished the day in 5th place.

295 players bellied up to the tables of the €1.1k NL Holdem event, the second one of the series. Day 1A of the poker tournament saw the field play down to the final 45. Ashly Butler finished the day with the largest stack. Butler got off to an excellent start: he got his chips into the middle holding pocket rockets against two other players, one of whom held pocket Ks and the other an A,Qo. That massive initial pot provided enough fuel for his excellent Day 1A run.
Others had much tougher days: John Monnette busted out during the very first level. Antonio Esfandiari on the other hand played well and finished the day in 2nd place.
