WSOPE – Hellmuth Leads Main Event Final Table

Day 4 of the 2012 WSOPE’s Main Event and 13th of the Series, saw Phil Hellmuth take full control as the field successfully played down to the final table.

NL Holdem Main Event saw 24 players return to its tables, among them the Poker Brat, who has been playing better and better lately, his form seemingly peaking just as Tony G put more and more effort into setting him on a tilt.
Day 4 of the Main Event was a relatively short one but it was a spectacular one in the same time. There were plenty of massive pots played for and plenty of spectacular eliminations. Joe Kuteher was the first victim of the day, followed to the rail by Vladislav Varlashin. Andy Frankenberger and Liv Boeree were among those eliminated before the final two tables were reached.
Liv Boeree looked like she was set to advance deep into the event, but she got unlucky when she picked up a pair of Qs and ran them straight into Stephane Albertini’s pocket Ks. That pot took a lot of fight out of her and although she did manage to rebound later, eventually she fell at Joseph Cheong’s hands. Her final hand saw her A,Q go down to Cheong’s A,10, after the latter made a pair of 10s on the river.
Curt Kohlberg was the one who followed Boeree to the rail. He probably attempted a bluff shoving all-in with a Jh, 10h, but Phil Hellmuth was having none of it. He was quick to make the call with pocket rockets and Kohlberg never managed to recover.
Max Silver and David Benyamine were eliminated around this time too. They were followed to the rail by Kyle Julius and Toby Lewis. Joseph Cheong was quite busy at this stage, scoring one elimination after the other. He was the one who pushed out Steve Dannenmann in 12th place. Timothy Adams was the final table bubble-boy of the
poker tournament.
