Viktor Blom Exacts Some Sweet SuperStar Showdown Revenge

Isaac Haxton, Viktor Blom’s first SuperStar Showdown opponent, was the only player in the lineup who managed to take money from PokerStars’ Swede pro. What’s more, Haxton even managed to win a March rematch, taking a mere $5k+ from his opponent that time. Although he may never have actually admitted it, Blom has probably considered Haxton a thorn in his side, or rather the proverbial monkey on his back which he finally managed to get rid of on Saturday. The two players had apparently agreed to take part in a winner take all session, which would land the winner a $1 million prize. Due to the date of the announcement, people figured it was but an April Fools thing, but the two did indeed tear into each others’ stacks on Saturday, and Blom ended up walking away with the dough.
Both players sat down to their SuperStar Showdown tables with $500k. The format of the bout was a little different from past Showdowns: there was no hand limit. The two would hack away at each other’s stacks until all the money would end up in front of one of them. They played at 4 $200/$400 NL Holdem tables and it took Blom 3 days (3 4-hour sessions basically) to complete his mission. Saturday was definitely Blom’s day. He got off to a great start, making a $198.4k dent in Haxton’s roll over just 1,901 hands. At one point, Blom was up $227k, but Haxton took the last hand of the 4-hour long session.
On Sunday, Blom shot out of the gates yet again, and he quickly added another $127k to his already substantial lead. Haxton then woke up and he began fighting back, managing to get within $30k of pulling even. Eventually though, Blom rebounded and he finished the day with a $281.3k overall lead.

On the third day of the ShowDown, Blom started out by reducing Haxton’s remaining stack to $16k. Eventually, the inevitable could not be postponed anymore and Blom moved to 1-2 against Haxton. Financially though, he has pretty much annihilated his opponent.
