EPT London Main Event – Day 1B Report

The second day 1 flight of the
Season 9 EPT London Main Event saw 411 more players belly up to the tables of the Grosvenor Victoria casino. Like Day 1A, Day 1B consisted of 8 levels, during which Spain’s Sergio Aido managed to build up a stack of 215.2k chips, clinching the overall chip lead. Aido has been on quite a roll lately: a few days ago, he won the UKIPT’s Main Event, picking up a £144.5k reward. He’s also played in a NL Holdem Turbo event this week, in which he ended up picking up another £20k prize.
Steve Warburton had a pretty tough time at the tables. It seemed like every time he managed to get someone all-in while holding the better hand, he would get it cracked and end up losing the pot. In one hand against Chris Moorman, he got it all-in with pocket Qs, against the latter’s Q,10 suited. He lost that pot, and a little later, he put his
poker tournament life onto the line with pocket 9s against another player’s 7,8 suited. He dropped that pot too and exited the event having developed quite a grudge with Lady Luck.
PokerStars’ Daniel Negreanu played on Day 1B too. He didn’t get much going though, and he eventually lost his tournament life at the end of a coin-flip. He was soon joined on the rail by Joe Cada, Jake Cody, Dario Minieri and Vanessa Rousso. James Dempsey didn’t fare much better either and neither did Dan Shak.
Victoria Coren on the other hand made it through the day, albeit only behind a stack of 44k chips. Sam Trickett and Barry Greenstein will be back for day 2 with considerably bigger stacks. Bertrand Grospellier and Jason Mercier will return to action as well.
