32 players returned to the Victoria Grosvenor Casino on Day 4 of the
EPT’s Main Event. The goal was to play down to the final 16, so the day turned out to be a rather short one. At the end of it, Steve O’Dwyer was the player with the largest stack. His 2.27 million chips edged out Nicolas Chouity’s 2.12 million for first place. Tamer Kamel of the UK finished 3rd with 2.1 million chips.
As soon as the day 4 action kicked off, eliminations started flowing. Players wasted no time getting down dirty and Rumen Nanev and Frederik Andersen bore the consequences of the early heroics: they both busted in the same hand, sent to the rail by Nicolas Chouity. The chips went into the middle preflop, and Chouity held pocket Js against Nanev’s A,K and Andersen’s pocket 5s. The pot gave a huge thrust to Chouity’s stack and he remained one of the top stacks all through the rest of the day.
Mathias Tikerpe was in the middle of the action for most of the
poker tournament, but on Day 4, his bell finally tolled. He picked up a pair of Ks and he shoved all-in, only to be called by Daniel Erlandsson, who had pocket rockets for the perfect hand. Needless to say, Erlandsson’s rockets held and Tikerpe was bounced.
Chris Moorman got off to a great start on Day 4. He hit an early double-up at Steven Silverman’s expense. The lost pot sent Silverman into a tailspin and a few hands later, he busted out, courtesy of Russell Carson.
PokerStars’ Jason Mercier was also among the victims of Day 4. His tournament demise came at the end of a coin-flip he lost on an A,9o vs pocket 7s match-up.
