The extremely pro-heavy
EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final Main Event saw its second day wrap up on Wednesday, after 6 levels of action, at the end of which a still very much pro-dominated top 10 emerged. The player with the most chips to his name at the end of the day was Johnny Lodden, who managed to build a 605.2k stack. Calvin Anderson, one of the front-runners at the beginning of the day held on to his large-stack: he finished second with 472.6k chips. Another start of the day frontrunner, Noah Schwartz finished 3rd, with 453.4k. Oleksii Kovalchuk managed to hang on to his spot in the top 10 as well. He was followed by Steve O’Dwyer and Freddy Deeb.
PokerStars’ Daniel Negreanu managed to make his way into the top 10 as well: he finished with 340.1k chips, in 7th place. Jason Mercier snuck into the top 10 as well: he finished 8th, with 321.9k chips. Things are certainly looking good for Mercier who already scored a win in Monte Carlo.
Lodden, the chip leader, had a more than decent-size stack all day long, but it was a pot he picked up during the last level of the day that propelled him into the lead. Mohamed Mamouni was the one who dropped a bunch of chips to him through that hand, after his two pair was defeated by Lodden’s flush.
Lodden then picked up another pot, after a bit of a spat between Day1B chip leader Victor Sbrissa and Paul Volpe.
There were no fewer than two former winners of this event returning to action on day 2: Nicolas Chouity and Mohsin Charania. Both of them bit the dust, so there will be no title defense this year. Jake Cody and Marcin Horecki on the other hand will both be back on Day 3.
