New Kid on the Full Tilt Poker Block

Posted by: James Carter. - Tue, 2009-11-10 16:18

He's been on the block for a while, but he's not been on the team, at least not until now. Finally Tom Dwan has an official home – Full Tilt Poker.

You'd be forgiven if you'd thought that Tom Dwan was a card carrying member of Full Tilt Poker, after all with the Durrrr Challenge that's been running for nearly a year he's become a household name. However, you would have been mistaken, because until this week he was not signed with the online poker site team.

This week marks an enormous change for him; Full Tilt Poker is incredibly selective in the players they sign – the best of the best only get in and as such Dwan joins the biggest names in online and offline poker, Allen Cunningham, Jennifer Harman, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, Gus Hansen, Make Matusow, Erik Seidel, Phil Ivey, Andy Block, John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, Phil Gordon, and Patrik Antonius. Fellow Full Tilt Poker team member Lederer said of the addition of Durrrr to the Full Tilt Team:

“Team Full Tilt doesn’t take adding a team member lightly, but Tom Dwan has proven,
through skill and dynamic play, that he will be a force to be reckoned with for many
years to come. We are proud to count Tom as one of our own.”

Tom Dwan is young; he's only 23 years old but he's incredibly accomplished for his age or even for someone many years older. He has degree from Boston University, and over a million dollars in live tournament earnings alone; last year he won more than $5 million in the online poker tables. It's no surprise that Full Tilt Poker is calling their latest addition "one of the most influential and successful players in online poker history"; and let's face it, his history is only just beginning.
