No fewer than 368 players bit the dust on day 5 of the 2010 Big Dance. The good news is that while a few “name” pros did drop out, the majority of players railbirds would like to see make it as far as possible in the
poker tournament, have remained in contention.
Johnny Chan, the two-times
WSOP Main Event champion is the one attracting the most attention, and so far he did not disappoint. He finished day 5 near the top too, after he got his stack up to 2.7 million late in the day. Garrett Adelstein was the one whose contribution got Chan back into the fray.
Adelstein decided to put his tournament life onto the line in the wake of some pretty heated preflop re-raising. He chose a bad time though, as Chan’s K,K was more than a match for his Q,J. the board fell a bunch of blanks and the Q in the end was probably Lady Luck thumbing her nose at Adelstein.
Evan Lamprea was the one who had the top spot locked up at the end of the day. He had amassed more than 3.5 million chips. Theo Jorgensen was the highest ranking “name” pro. His stack of 3,088,000 was enough for a 5th place finish. Jorgensen was the one responsible for the elimination of Dorothy Von Sachsen, one of the last ladies in the poker tournament. He disposed on Danny Mizrachi too, to douse the momentum behind the Mizriachi-invasion a little.
Breeze Zucherman became the last woman standing, after Von Sachsen’s elimination.
PokerStars’ JP Kelly and Johnny Lodden were also among the survivors.
