2010 WSOP Main Event – Theo Jorgensen leads

Theo Jorgensen had finished with the chip lead on day 5 of the 2010 WSOP, and he’d spent much of day 6 near the top of the leader board too. Day 6 eventually turned out to be his day. He shot back into the lead after taking down a huge pot in a battle of the large-stacks during the last level of the day.
Fokke Beukers was the fellow large-stack who decided to take a stand against Jorgensen’s aggression. The hand which resulted in Beukers’ elimination started with a preflop bet from Jorgensen. Beukers was quick to raise him and Jorgensen made the call.
The flop landed 7,3,6 rainbow, and this time, it was Beukers who decided to take the fight to his opponent. Jorgensen made the call, to see a Ks land on the turn. Beukers committed the mistake of checking. Jorgensen smelled weakness and he fired out a massive bet, in response to which, Beukers shoved all-in. Jorgensen called it with Kc,6c. Beukers’ top pair top kicker was in deep trouble and the 4c on the river did little to bail him out.

Despite Jorgensen’s late heroics though, Michael Mizrachi was the story of day 6. The oldest member of the Mizrachi clan saw all three of his brothers fall victim to the attrition of the poker tournament, but he never batted an eyelash. He pushed forth relentlessly and finished day 6 as one of the top contenders.

PokerStars’ Johnny Lodden hung on too, together with Tony Dunst, David Benyamine, Adam Levy and Eric Baldwin.
Unfortunately for the masses of railbirds rooting for him, Johnny Chan busted out of the Main Event on day 6.
