2011 WSOP – Aaron Steury Wins $1,500 HORSE Event

Several events rolled past their respective money bubbles on Day 13 of the 2011 WSOP, but only one coveted gold bracelet found its way into the pockets of its rightful owner this time. The event that awarded the bling was the $1,500 HORSE one, and the player to pick up the honors was Aaron Steury.
17 players returned to action, looking to pick up the bracelet on the final day of the $1,500 HORSE event. The surviving field was loaded with “name” players, therefore many of the casualties were high profile competitors. Indeed, the final table bubble boy was none other than Team PokerStars' Victor Ramdin, who was bounced in 9th place.

In an Omaha Hi/Lo hand, Ramdin shoved all-in holding a two pair and a low draw. Jonathan Tamayo was the one who called him, holding a set of 7s and a draw to the nut low. Not much changed with the remaining cards which fell, and Tamayo picked up the entire pot, sending Ramdin to the rail.
Adam Friedman was the one who led the 8-handed final table. Michael Chow was breathing down his neck and Tamayo made it on a healthy stack as well. Friedman used his large stack well, and made it all the way to 3rd place before he ran out of steam. His final hand was a Holdem one, which saw him shove everything into the middle on a lousy 3,7o. He got called by Michael Chow, who had pocket Js and the rest is history. Steury played well all through the final table, thus when the heads-up stage was reached, he had a monster stack. Chow found himself in a tight spot as soon as the heads-up action began. Desperately needing a quick chip-up, a few hands later he was all-in holding J,J,3 in a Stud 8 round against Steury’s A,A,8. None of the two hands managed to improve at all and Steury picked up the $289k first prize.
