2011 WSOP – Day 15 Wrap-Up

Besides the three events that resulted in bracelets awarded to various players, day 15 of the 2011 WSOP saw action in four more events. Event #22, the $1,500 PLO event had 117 players return to action on its day 2. The money bubble had been reached a day before, so there as little lollygagging. Players tore into each-other, among them Michael Binger, Nick Binger and Ryan Welch. None of these guys managed to reach the final table though. Welch made it the furthest of them all, succumbing to the attrition in 14th place.
The action was called when the final table was reached. Juha Vilkki will start with the largest stack on the final day.

210 players returned for Day 2 of the $2,500 8-Game Mix Event, mostly with one goal in mind: to make it past the money bubble. Bruno Benviste was the one who busted on the bubble to push all the other survivors into promise-land. Benviste got all his chips into the middle on a flop of J,10,5 rainbow in an Omaha 8 round, and he got called by no fewer than 3 players: Shaun Deeb, Mayu Roca and Nikolay Evdakov. Deeb took down half the pot and the rest didn’t go to Benviste, who bit the dust.
25 players remained at the end of the day. John Racener will lead the survivors into the final day of action.

Event #24, the $5k NL Holdem Shootout was one of the events that kicked off on Day 15. 387 players registered for it and after the first round, Justin Bonomo, Tom Marchese, Full Tilt Poker’s Erik Seidel, Gavin Griffin, Max Lykov and James Akenhead were all still alive. The money bubble has been reached. 40 players will return to action on day 2 of the event.

Event #25, the $1.5k Stud 8 or Better one, saw 606 players belly up to the tables. That number was just 38 players short of last year’s record. Hevan Novick and Cindy Violette finished with the shared chip-lead in this one.
