2011 WSOP – Day 17 Wrap Up

Mark Radoja walked away with a bracelet on Day 17 of the 2011 WSOP. There was plenty of other action on Day 17 too.
The $1,500 Stud 8 or Better event saw 23 players return to the tables on its 3rd day. The goal was obviously to play down to the final table. ESPN’s Norman Chad had pieced together an excellent run on the previous day and he had finished on a healthy stack. He returned to the tables looking to make the final table, unfortunately though, he was bounced in 12th place.
PokerStars’ Mike Sexton, the other TV personality, made the final table and he even advanced to the heads-up stage against Chris Viox. The heads-up action lasted for more than 10 levels without bringing about a conclusion and therefore the day was called before either Sexton or Viox could secure the title.

189 players returned to the tables of event #26, the $2.5k NL Holdem Six-Max Event. The money bubble was reached on Day 2, as Paul Dewald walked away with the bubble-boy title under his belt.
Dewald was crippled when he picked up an A,K and ran it into another player’s pocket Qs. He then desperation-shoved with 5c, 3c, to be called by Melanie Weisner who had A,10o.
22 players remained at the end of the day. Jake Cody, Sorel Mizzi and Nenad Medic all made the money.

The $10k Limit Holdem World Championship event saw 106 players return to the tables, with PokerStars’ own Daniel Negreanu leading the way. The money bubble was set for 18th place, so plenty of players were bounced with nothing to show for their efforts.
Shunjiro Uchida was the one who fell on the bubble. Carlos Mortensen’s elimination in 15th place signaled the end of the day.

Two news events kicked off on Day 17: the $1,500 NL Holdem one and the $2.5k 10-Game Mix Event. The second one of them marked the first time ever that Badugi was played in a WSOP event.
