2011 WSOP – Day 25 Wrap-Up

Day 25 of the 2011 WSOP was certainly a busy one bracelet-wise. No fewer than 3 players earned their WSOP stripes that day, but there were other going-ons as well.
Event #38, the $1,500 NL Holdem one, reconvened for its 3rd day, with 23 players bellying up to the tables. Perry Lin started the day in an excellent position: he held the chip lead over the other – mostly inexperienced and unknown, young players.
Lin managed his advantage well: when the final table was reached well into Day 3, he still had a sizeable lead.
Arkadiy Tsinis swung into action then and took over the lead, but Lin was still looking good, until Randolph Lanosga took him into his crosshairs and executed a nasty 1-2 on him to send him packing.
The first of these hands saw Lanosga push all-in on a flop which gave Lin a two pair. Lanosga held pocket Qs and he landed another Q on the river to score the upset.
Lin then moved all in with Ad, 9d and Lanosga made the call with pocket Js. Needless to say, the pocket pair held and Lin’s tournament came to an abrupt end.
The event reached the heads-up stage, which saw Tsinis and Michael Blanovsky square off, but the bracelet was not reached, on account of the 10-level rule.

172 players returned to action in the $5k NL Holdem Six-Handed event. Ex-UB pro Phil Hellmuth was there, but he failed to survive the day. A similar fate befell Full Tilt Poker’s Shaun Deeb too.
20 players remained at the end of the day.

The $1,500 Limit Holdem Shootout kicked off on day 25. 538 players bellied up to the tables to play down to 60 by the end of the day. The other event which got going on Day 25 was event #42, the $10k PLO World Championship event. 361 players registered for it, marking an increase of 15 from last year’s numbers. Manny Jo clinched the chip lead by the end of the day, as the field had played down to 170.
