2012 Aussie Millions – Registration Changes

The Aussie Millions rock the poker world every year, and now the series is but a month away. The Crown Casino in Melbourne has announced a series of changes to the registration process, in order to facilitate bigger participation and bigger prize-pools too of course. For starters: with the exception of a handful of events (like the $1k rebuy event, the $5k Heads-Up event, the $10.6k Main Event and the $5k Chinese poker tournament) all Aussie Million tournaments will feature a late registration period, which will indeed be rather significant: players will be able to buy into the events up until the second break, which is usually a good 4 hours into the tournament.
The Main Event features even quirkier registration: players will be allowed to register until the start of the second level of the second day. One might wonder why there changes were introduced, and indeed there’s a good reason for them: last year has made it clear for the organizers that a great number of would-be Aussie Millions participants were heading down under in the wake of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The moves were meant to give these PCA players a chance to register.

In addition to all that, the Chinese New Year is another factor which prompted the organizers to make tweaks. Many of those interested in taking part in the Aussie Millions observe the Chinese New Year, which is a period traditionally spent with the family. The new registration structure allows these people to observe their holidays and to take part in the event as well.
The 2012 Aussie Millions will be a Series of a truly awesome magnitude. It will feature no fewer than 26 events, and it will run from January 12 to January 26. Qualifying online is still possible for many of the Aussie Million events. At PokerStars for instance, one can qualify for as little as $2. Aussie Millions packages are worth a massive $16k.
